Dr. Michael B. Vaughan, a post-doc researcher at Ghent University in Belgium and an expert in functional neurophysiology and 3D tissue engineering, will hold a seminar on "Cosmic Kidney Disease: How Spaceflight Reshapes Kidney Biology" on Tuesday, April 28, at 12:00 p.m. in the "Emmanuele F.M. Emanuele" lecture hall at Biogem.

Dr. Vaughan, who will visit Biogem to discuss potential collaborations within several international research projects in which the Italian institute plays a major role, will describe the activities of the "Cosmic Kidney Disease" project. Specifically, as a founding member of NASA Human Analysis Working Group, Dr. Vaughan led the gut microbiome profiling as part of the integrated pan-omics study.

A topic of great relevance and very timely, not only for better understanding the consequences of space travel on human health, but also for advancing the development of more effective clinical approaches.
